PROFESSIONAL TRAINING
Rendez-Vous Dance is committed to supporting the development of the next generation of artists and arts professionals. Through a range of training opportunities, workshops, placements, internships, and professional development initiatives, we seek to create meaningful pathways into contemporary dance and the wider cultural sector.
Rooted in the company's values of curiosity, generosity, and artistic excellence, our programmes provide opportunities to deepen skills, expand knowledge, and gain insight into the realities of working within a professional arts organisation.
Whether in the studio, behind the scenes, or through peer exchange and discussion, participants are invited to engage with the creative, organisational, and collaborative processes that underpin our work.
We believe that learning is an ongoing dialogue between practice and experience. Our training opportunities are designed to nurture adaptable, reflective, and resourceful practitioners, supporting individuals at different stages of their professional journey as they develop sustainable and fulfilling careers within the arts.

Open Company Class
Whenever the company is in creation or touring, its morning training sessions are often opened to professional and vocationally trained dancers, offering an opportunity to engage directly with the physical practice of the company.
The training aims to equip dancers with the physical and creative tools necessary to engage with a wide range of choreographic processes and artistic environments.
The company’s training draws lightly on the fundamental principles of Cunningham technique while cultivating a deep sensorial awareness of the self, where the body is not treated as a separate instrument but as an integrated, living presence.
Technical practice focuses on establishing a strong sense of verticality without sacrificing fluidity or momentum. The aim is to develop a body that is centred yet responsive, grounded yet constantly in motion, fostering alertness, connectivity, and a genuine pleasure in movement.

Intensive Workshops
Since 2018, the company has organised annual Intensive Workshops, offering dancers an opportunity to deepen and enrich their practice through a carefully curated programme designed for the demands of contemporary dance today.
These workshops invite participants to immerse themselves in the physical and artistic world of the company while engaging with complementary practices such as yoga, Gaga, and other movement disciplines that broaden the dancer’s creative and embodied experience.

Dance Conversation Club
Rendez-Vous Dance is proud to host online conversations that bring together professionals from across the sector to exchange ideas, experiences, and perspectives on models of practice that may feel exciting, challenging, or at times uncomfortable.
Facilitated by an invited expert, each session provides a supportive and open space where participants can share their experiences, reflect collectively, and gather insights that may inform and enrich their own practice.
Recordings of the Dance Conversation Club remain available after each event for professionals who are unable to attend live.
Our most recent Dance Conversation Club explored the theme: Let's Talk About Ecological Touring.
If you would like to access the recording of this conversation, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Placements and Internships
Rendez-Vous Dance is committed to supporting emerging artists and arts professionals as they take their first steps into the sector. Through placements, internships, and project-based opportunities, we aim to provide meaningful experiences that offer insight into the realities of working within a contemporary dance company.
These opportunities can take a variety of forms. Some arise through a recruitment process linked to a specific project or tour, while others are developed in response to individual requests for short-term placements and work experience. We welcome applications from those interested in a wide range of areas, including performance, production, administration, touring, engagement, and the day-to-day operations of a professional arts organisation.
Since 2022, we have partnered with Northern School of Contemporary Dance to involve graduate dancers in tours of The Monocle, offering valuable professional touring experience and a direct introduction to life within a contemporary dance company.
We have also partnered with London Studio Centre to welcome students interested in the production and organisational aspects of our work, providing opportunities to gain practical experience behind the scenes.
We believe that the future of the arts depends on creating opportunities for the next generation of practitioners to learn, contribute, and grow. If you are interested in undertaking a placement or internship with Rendez-Vous Dance, we would be delighted to hear from you.
